Apo's Designs
Apo's Designs is a creative lab where new ideas are being processed and new relations between materials and forms are being researched. It is also a workshop, where the ideas and the materials are turned into designer decorative and/or utilitarian objects, with a sophisticated post-industrial aesthetic. This creative process demands the precise design and processing of the materials with mechanical means. Nevertheless, the creator's hands have the first and last word in the process and the objects are essentially handmade.
Responsible for Apo's Designs is Apostolos Chasiotis who, for 25 years now, has been working as a visual artist on the construction of sculptures and everyday objects made out of recycled materials, originating from parts of older objects and machinery. He has participated in various exhibitions and collective actions and has been collaborating for many years with well-established Greek institutions such as the Benaki Museum and the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation, undertaking the design and construction of objects for their shops.
